Before the miles, before the snowmobiles, before the fundraiser—there’s the reason. In the summer of 2022, after turning 40, what began as a renewed focus on my health led to a colonoscopy and a diagnosis of colorectal cancer with a 9 cm tumor. The months that followed were filled with treatments, surgeries, long days, and loss—including walking alongside loved ones through their own cancer battles and grieving those who didn’t make it—but I chose to keep showing up for my family, my work, and myself. With the support of those around me and a commitment to staying positive and proactive, I reached a milestone in October of 2023 when I was declared cancer-free—an experience that reshaped my perspective and fueled my desire to give back. That’s why I’m back this year, committing once again to the Snowball Cancer Challenge. On February 5th, my cousin Eric (also a cancer survivor), along with myself and a dedicated group of riders, will attempt the Valentine 500—500 miles in a single day by snowmobile. This ride isn’t about proving toughness. It’s about giving back. All pledges support the Keller Family Community Foundation, which helps cancer patients and their families with travel and fuel expenses for oncology-related appointments—real, immediate support when it’s needed most. All donations are tax-exempt. I ride with gratitude, perspective, and purpose. I know firsthand how much these resources matter, and I’m honored to help others on their own journeys. Thank you for supporting this mission, this cause, and this ride. Jeff Kurschner
